Hair products I’m loving right now.
As a curly girl with 2 (or maybe 3) different hair textures, I’m constantly on the hunt for the best hair products. And, let me be clear, the “best” just means what my hair responds to better at the time. This doesn’t always mean expensive, exclusive, etc. it just means what your hair loves! That can change with time, so always be open to trying something new. A hack that absolutely saves money is to try out products as a travel size in case you don’t like it. You can invest in the full size once you find your hair’s faves!
my current hair routine:
I only wash my hair once a week because any more often than that is beyond my abilities lol. It takes quite a bit of time, so this is just what works for me! Keep in mind, I always always always put my hair in a pineapple using a silk scarf and a satin bonnet to go to sleep and this keeps my hair from getting tangled. I used to put it in a pineapple using a big scrunchie, but sometimes it gets my curls a bit tangled.
On wash day, I start by using the curl shampoo and after I’m done washing my hair, I rinse it completely off. I follow up the shampoo with the shea moisture masque and apply it generously through my hair, clip it up, and put on a clear shower cap. After 5 minutes [you can leave it in longer], I detangle my hair using a denman brush and it just glides through! I seriously love this hair mask.
Once my hair is detangled, I wash the mask out and use the olaplex no.3 and put my hair back inside the shower cap for another 5-10 mins. I know it’s quite a bit of time, so this is when I usually shave, etc. since I’m in the shower for so long. Once I wash it off, I use the curl conditioner! This is the last step before I get out of the shower.
Now it’s the not so fun part! 😅 I part my hair into two sections and then part the first section into much smaller sections. For each, I wet it a bit more [my hair gets kinda dry and I get better results when it’s soaking wet] and I apply the tgin daily cream generously, run my denman brush through that section, and then I apply the design essentials mousse to it generously as well. If you haven’t caught on, my hair is happiest when I use plenty of product! It dries so well and I get defined curls. I repeat this process until I get the entire hair!
My hubby gifted me the Dyson hairdryer a few months ago and it’s incredible. I let my hair air dry for a about 2 hours [if I’m not going anywhere] and then I diffuse it. I can diffuse right after, but it makes my hair a little bit shorter than I’d like, thanks to shrinkage. I learned that if I wait a bit and then diffuse, I get the length I want. I’m assuming this is the same concept as sitting under the dryer in a salon and then diffusing.
